What is Amazon Web Services (AWS)?

    december 08, 2022

    AWS

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a secure cloud services platform offering computing power, database hosting, content delivery services, and many other products and services that help a customer easily scale and grow the business.

Currently, it offers over 160 services in a very wide range. The delivered IT resources are available via the Internet and billed in the Pay-As-You-Go model. It is said to be the most popular and developed solution of this type in the world. It is used by the biggest players, e.g. Netflix, Airbnb, Pinterest, or Ringier Axel Springer. AWS is the current leader in providing cloud solutions and has a 47% share in the entire market.

There are 3 types of cloud: public, private, and hybrid. The public is one that is open to the public and can be used by virtually anyone. Examples of such clouds are Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services. A private cloud is created for its needs by one company. Only a small group of users have access. Examples of such clouds are Openstack and VMware. A hybrid cloud is a combination of both solutions. It means that the enterprise maintains its systems in both private and public clouds. Currently, it is the most used type of cloud.

The most popular of the services offered by AWS is Amazon EC2 (Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud). It is a solution that allows you to increase resources and provides scalable computing power in the cloud. This functionality allows you to create an architecture that is resistant to sudden spikes in server load and allows you to increase resources without allowing them to be overloaded.

More companies decide to implement cloud strategies. According to analysts, the cloud will be soon a priority for companies that think about building a business advantage over the competition. Amazon Web Services gives the right tools to build the future of the enterprise, and it is likely that many more companies will switch to this solution in the future.
